Words cannot express the shock we had on hearing the terrible news about the sudden demise of George Lomotey. It is difficult to believe but it is true. Our hearts are saddened and heavy as we pay this tribute.

This is so devastating and a big blow to his family and the Santaclausian fraternity. We can only imagine what the family is going through at the moment. Our thoughts go out to the family.

We met George Lomotey in 2002 when we all gained admission at Adisadel College. George was in Aglionby House and studied General Art. He was such an amazing young boy full of life. He was always happy, always smiling and always willing to offer help in his own small way. He was well respected and liked by his seniors, mates, juniors and teachers as well. He made it a core principle to stay out of trouble. Throughout our stay at Adisadel, we never saw the other side of Lomotey. His love for music was as his love for his walkman. Speak of neatness and he was one of the few to be picked in his house and class. He was decent.

Young as he was, Bonneyman as we affectionately call him for his mimicking of our Senior Housemaster, Mr. David N. Bonney, had great hopes of tomorrow. He was so determined to make his dreams a reality that he never played with his studies. He sought for every available opportunity to improve himself academically. Sadly, he lives no more to see that dream he was busily shaping comes into fruition.

He was one that feared God. Yes, we say this as testimony of the faith of our colleague we painfully paid our last respect. He was constant at Scripture Union (SU) and other Christian gatherings on campus. His Christian upbringing reflected in his way of life. His journey here on earth was a journey of faith and we only hope his family in their hour of despair and afflictions take consolation in his shinning moment of faith.

Today, as we bid him farewell, we are pained at his lost. We are saddened that a young prospect lives no more. We are dejected that we shall not share in his big dreams tomorrow.

You were gone before we knew it, our hearts still ache in sadness and secret tears still flow. What it means to lose you, no one will ever know.

Of George Lomotey we know and of him we have testified. Gone but never forgotten. You’ll ever be missed and loved forever.

Fare thee well George,

Goodbye Bonneyman,

Heaven shall keep you till we meet again.

Damrifa Due!!
