I thought the issue of gay marriage had died out of my memory until the Presbyterian Church in the US sanctioned and confirmed the biblical legality of gay marriage – men marrying men in their church.
Hmmm! I think the forces that turned the once spirit filled churches into now hotels and concert halls are fully awake now in our time and want to achieve same.
But what made these spirit filled churches with vibrant Christians who were once on fire for Christ Jesus not recognised that their churches were dying gradually because of alien practices that had been allowed to creep into the church and the worship of God. Today, some of the places that hosted the presence of God now host the presence of the prince of the air… the devil. Where have we kept or left the admonishment by the Apostle Paul to be watchful and know the tactics of the devil in this last days. “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11.
The question of democratization of human rights has brought to the fore issues of gay and their rights to live a normal life as everybody. I have no problem with the lifestyle of someone but when that lifestyle infringes on our sensitivity and becomes injurious to society, then there is cause for concern. Gay right activists now seem hard in pushing their agenda not only on governments but now on the churches. And are they winning? I say the church is allowing them to make in-roads. Now, it is no longer gays have rights but are love by God and they should be allowed to be who they are. Who said so.
God loves gays. Absolutely! No doubt about that. God loves everyone including me, the sinful Eubulus as well as the gay. “For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son, that who so ever believes in him, will not perish but have an everlasting life.” John 3:16. God loves them but that is not His purpose for their lives. I need to state that western culture cannot be the principle by which we shall interpret the Bible. I believe no one was born gay but picked up that practice. Gay and lesbianism is a sinful condition for that reason God’s love spread to them to save them from that condition.
If the church thinks speaking on the issue will hurt the sensitivity of others then the church has become warm and backslidden – the spirit of God no longer live in that church just as it did to King Saul. (1Samuel 16:14) The next stage is the destruction of the church authority in society as it happened to Saul.
The role of the church is to help such people come to repentance and not to accept a lie for a truth. The Bible is not a compromise field but a holy book that promises love and God’s eternal purpose for man. God does not wish that we perish but come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Sadly, some churches see nothing wrong with people being gays and lesbians. Get me right, am not calling on the churches nor believers to reject them but as stated earlier, ours is to get them out of their sinful lifestyle. Yes! Gay is a sin before God.
The church is as sick as the people who confess of being gays. The church now has ordained gay priests. Hahaha! What do they preach; the Bible or social doctrine of psychology?
Now, a church has approved as biblical gay marriage. A church? Yes, a Bible believing church in USA says men can walk to the church in holy matrimony with men. This issue should not ignite debate since the Bible is clear on that subject.
I must say the Bible talks about homosexuality but does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same-sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin.
Let me point out that Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. If the Bible speaks about this, then it can not contradict itself on same sex marriage (Gay/Lesbianism).
Let us listen to what First Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.
Whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female. The first mention of marriage, Genesis 2:24, describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife.
(1 Corinthians 7:2-16, Ephesians 5:23-33)
Romans 1:31 says they (same sex people) are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.” They need God’s love and God loves them so they do not perish. But for the church, we should not lose the essence of our spiritual and heavenly mandate to speak and preach the truth.
God still loves the church, loves me as a sinner and loves the gay. Let them repent rather them lead them into destruction.
